Activate Business School launches their new leadership programme with the University of Oxford

Activate Business School launched their new leadership programme at City of Oxford College and University Centre on Wednesday 4 September.

Determined to Lead Oxford is a new Level 5 Leadership and Management programme delivered by Activate Business School. Targeted at middle-level managers, this programme will be delivered at City of Oxford College and University Centre City Centre campus in dedicated facilities.

The new programme will enable middle-level managers to grow their management skills, knowledge and techniques, while working.

During the matriculation launch event, staff from Activate Business School and ¶¶Òõ̽̽ welcomed 14 of the 18 managerial delegates from the University of Oxford, who are the first cohort to participate in this programme. All participants are from the University of Oxford’s Oxford Colleges Group, which consists of 43 colleges.

Determined to Lead Oxford is a bespoke nine-month programme which will be launched using the Insights psychometric tool, designed to help people understand themselves, others and make the most of their relationships in the workplace.

There will be nine face-to-face delivery days and 10 hours of mentorship. This mentorship will be delivered in four two and a half hour sessions, which are tailored to each delegate. ¶¶Òõ̽̽’s award-winning Learning Philosophy will be woven throughout the programme.

Jayne Atkinson, Head of Sales, Activate Business School, welcomed everyone to the matriculation evening. Speeches were then given by Gary Headland DL, Chief Executive, ¶¶Òõ̽̽ and John Banbrook, Domestic Bursar, St Anne’s College, the University of Oxford.

Each delegate was presented with a specially-designed Determined to Lead Oxford pin badge by Mr Headland, to mark the start of their exciting programme.

After the presentation given by Mr. Headland, the evening concluded and delegates had the opportunity to meet and network with each other, the mentors and delivery team enjoying canapés and drinks.

Jayne Atkinson, Head of Sales, Activate Business School, said: “We feel really excited and privileged to work with the University of Oxford and that they’re trusting us to develop their managers and leaders through this programme.

“Our hope for the programme is that the learners stay curious and take the time and space to put what they have learnt into practice, supported by the mentors and the delivery team to take them to the next level and open up new opportunities for them.â€

John Banbrook, Domestic Bursar, St Anne’s College, the University of Oxford, said: “The University of Oxford and its constituent colleges are recognised worldwide for high attainment and exceptional output.

“We’re privileged to have an exceptional group of people to support the development of those outputs.

“The Determined to Lead Oxford programme, delivered by Activate Business School represents a fantastic opportunity to further develop our middle managers and leaders to better prepare them for their current roles and hopefully give them the knowledge and experience for future more demanding roles.â€

Craig Hibberd, Accommodation Manager, St Anne’s College, the University of Oxford is just one of the learners on the programme.

He said: “I’m excited to have been given the chance to start this course as it shows that my manager believes in my abilities and potential.”

“I’m interested to see what I can get out of it and how it will benefit not only myself and my department, but the college as a whole.”

Gary Headland DL, Chief Executive, ¶¶Òõ̽̽, said: “Many leaders I speak with routinely talk about the need to invest in first-line managers, I am therefore delighted to welcome leaders from colleges of the University of Oxford to this event at the City of Oxford College and University Centre city-centre campus this evening to kick off their new leadership programme with Activate Business School.â€
